Parent Visas

These applications are intended for parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to migrate to Australia on a permanent basis. Note the subclass 870 is a temporary visa- See below:

There are two primary types of parent visas: Contributory (expensive, to help cover medicare costs )

Non- contributory (Standard)

  • With these visas, you can move to or stay in Australia as a permanent resident, once settled sponsored eligible family members, and in future to apply for Australian citizenship if eligible.

    ​

    The Contributory Parent (subclass 143) visa has substantially shorter processing times and a higher visa application charge than the Parent (subclass 103) visa. 

    *Please notice very substantial processing times, even for the contributory option.

    ​

    Application Cost: Application cost varies significantly, stating from approximately AUD $5,125.00 for a single initial visa charge to over 48,000 dolars for a contributory visa.  First and second visa charge.

  • With these visas, you can move to or stay in Australia as a permanent resident, once settled sponsored eligible family members, and in future to apply for Australian citizenship if eligible. Unlike the offshore parent visa, this visa requires you to be old enough to receive the Age Pension in Australia (currently 67 years or older).

    The Contributory Aged Parent (subclass 864) visa has considerably shorter processing times and a higher visa charge compared to rather than the Aged Parent (subclass 804) visa.

    Aged Parent visa application cost (subclass 804) : From $7,345.00 over two instalments for a single applicant.

    Contributory Aged Parent visa application cost (subclass 864): From AUD48,640.00 over 2 instalments for a single applicant.

  • With these visas, you can live in Australia for up to 2 years, work and study in Australia (you will not receive government support), and apply for a permanent visa.

    ​

    For the Aged Parent Visa, you need to be old enough to receive the age pension in Australia (currently 67 years or more).

    Contributory Parent (Temporary) visa Cost: From AUD32,525.00 over 2 instalments for a single applicant.
    Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) visa Cost: From AUD34,170.00 over 2 instalments for a single applicant.

  • This temporary visa allows a parent of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to visit Australia for either 3 or 5 years. The applicant chooses the timeframe. One can renew the visa only once for an additional 3 or 5 years. Requiring an approved sponsor for it.

    Importantly, you only need one child to be settled in Australia – you do not need to satisfy the balance of family test that is otherwise required for a parent visa.

    ​

    You are not allowed to work under this visa. And you have the option to apply for further visas to visit for a maximum period in Australia of 10 years.

    Up to 3 years AUD6,070.00

    Up to 5 years AUD12,140.00
