Seasonal Workers:
For workers from participating countries to fill temporary, low-skilled roles in agriculture and other approved industries.
This may be up to 4 years.
Enables young people from eligible countries (from 18–30 or 35 years old for some countries) to stay in Australia on a Work Holiday Visa for up to 12 months, with opportunities for a second or third visa by doing specified regional work.
Similar to the 417 visa but for a different set of countries, with slightly stricter education and English requirements.
Allows regional work to extend stay.
Visa for up to 12 months, with possible opportunity for extension.
Special Programs (Including DAMA):
A labour agreement between the Australian Government and specific regions to address local skill shortages with overseas workers, offering concessions (e.g. English, salary).
Specifically, for example the Far North Queensland DAMA , which allows for a number of potentially suitable occupations in the farming industry – Cairns Chamber of Commerce.
This visa is the main solution for temporary work visas in Australia and it allows employers sponsor to employ skilled workers to fill positions for up to 4 years, where no suitable Australians are available – also used within DAMA.
For skilled workers nominated by regional employers – provides a pathway to permanent residence, by first securing a 5 year provisional visa.
Other Work Visas:
For structured workplace-based training or professional development programs for up to 2 years.
Permanent residency for skilled workers nominated by an Australian employer (with potential concessions under some DAMAs).
